1. What is Gelair?

Gelair is the simplest and most convenient solution to improve indoor air quality by killing mould, bacteria, and viruses.

2.  What kind of tea tree oil is used in Gelair products?

All Gelair™ products contain only Australian Tea Tree Oil compliant to ISO 4730:2004(E) Oil of Melaleuca, terpinen-4-ol type (Tea Tree oil). This ensures a superior product every time with a minimal chance of irritation due to poor quality oils.

4. Is Gelair effective against flu viruses? 

   a. Yes, studies show that AustralianTea Tree oil is effective against influenza virus.  

Here are some of the studies: 

1. Melaleuca alternifolia Concentrate Inhibits in Vitro Entry of Influenza Virus into Host 
   Cells (2013) 
2. Activity of Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea Tree) Oil on Influenza Virus (2011) 
3. Inactivation of Airborne Influenza Virus by Tea Tree Oil and Eucalyptus Oil (2012) 
4. It has been tested against the Influenza A H1N1 strain and likely to stop other flu viruses. 

5. Is Gelair effective against black mould? 

   a. Yes, the penetrating action of Australian Tea Tree Oil stops the growth of mould on porous surfaces such as grout and silicone for up to 12 weeks. 

   b. Third party tests show that application of Gelair Tea Tree Oil Spray resulted to over 98.72% reduction of Aspergillus niger (black mould).

6. Is Gelair effective against bacteria? 

     a. Yes, Gelair™ has delivered solutions to mold and bacteria build up in buildings for over two decades, using Australian grown and distilled Tea Tree Oil as the main ingredient in all Gelair™ products. 

     b. Australian Tea Tree Oil is a powerful broad spectrum anti-microbial and anti-fungal agent, killing mold and bacteria (including Legionella) and viruses.

     c. Third party test show that Gelair can kill 99.9993% of Methicillin resistant Streptococcus aureus (MRSA) and 99.9995% of Legionella pneumophila.

7. I have window aircon at home, can I use Gelair Health-e Split?

8. I already use Gelair Health-e Split – do I still have to clean my aircon? 

      a. Yes. Your aircon still has to be cleaned every 6 months as dust and other particles still go through your aircon.  

      b. For consumer aircon cleaning, Gelair aircon cleaner is recommended. 

      c. The special formulation sticks to vertical surfaces for longer to enable penetration into dirt and mould on coils and ducts to allow cleaning and sterilising.  

     d. Gelair aircon cleaner cleans and sterilises your aircon, and removes dust and dirt. While Gelair Health-e split ensure constant release of Australian Tea Tree oil everytime you use your aircon. 

9. I already clean my aircon with Gelair Aircon Cleaner – do I still have to use Gelair Health-e Split? 

     a. Yes, for consumer aircon maintenance, Gelair health-e split is recommended.  

     b. Gelair Health-e split ensure constant release of Australian Tea Tree oil everytime you use your aircon.  

     c. Gelair Health-e Split helps prevent recirculating moulds, bacteria, and viruses in your room. 

10. How to prevent mold growth on tile grouts and silicone in the bathrooms? 

    Apply Gelair All-purpose Tea Tree Oil spray on dry tile grouts and silicone. Leave overnight. That’s it! It’s effective for up to 12 weeks! Prevention is better than cure! 

11. I have lots of mold growth on the tile grouts and silicone. What to do? Can Gelair All-purpose remove the stains? 

      a. Apply Gelair All-purpose Tea Tree Oil spray on dry tile grouts and silicone. Leave overnight. 

      b. Unfortunately, mould stains are tough to remove. Bleach only removes the color and kill surface moulds, but do not kill the moulds at it’s roots.

12. The cupboard where I store my shoes and bags – they become mouldy over time. Is there a Gelair product that can help? 

      a. Apply Gelair All-purpose Tea Tree Oil Spray on a damp cloth and wipe on a small, inconspicuous area. Test for fading, etc. If eveything’s alright, apply to larger areas. You can use the same method for treating furniture and other items. 

      b. Clean your aircon every 6 months with Gelair Aircon Cleaner. 

      c. Prevent recirculation of moulds, bacteria, and viruses in the room with the use of Gelair Health-e Split or Gelair Tub. 

13. Help, my leather couch became mouldy! What to do?

     a. Apply Gelair All-purpose Tea Tree Oil Spray on a damp cloth and wipe on a small, inconspicuous area. Test for fading, etc. If eveything’s alright, apply to larger areas. You can use the same method for treating leather shoes and bags, and other surfaces. 

     b. Clean your aircon every 6 months with Gelair Aircon Cleaner. 

     c. Prevent recirculation of moulds, bacteria, and viruses in the room with the use of Gelair Health-e Split or Gelair Tub. 

14.The spaces behind my furniture is full of moulds! What to do? 

      a. Apply Gelair All-purpose Tea Tree Oil Spray on a damp cloth and wipe on a small, inconspicuous area. Test for fading, etc. If eveything’s alright, apply to larger areas. You can use the same method for treating leather shoes and bags, and other surfaces. 

     b. Clean your aircon every 6 months with Gelair Aircon Cleaner. 

    c. Prevent recirculation of moulds, bacteria, and viruses in the room with the use of Gelair Health-e Split or Gelair Tub. 

15.Is Gelair safe to use when I have children at home? 

      Yes, Gelair Health-e Split and tub releases just the right amount of tea tree oil in the space, potent enough to kill moulds, bacteria, and viruses while safe to use when pets children are around. However, we highly recommend to keep Gelair All-purpose spray, Gelair Aircon Cleaner, and Gelair tub out of reach of petschildren. 

16.Is Gelair safe to use when I have pets at home? 

      Yes, Gelair Health-e Split and tub releases just the right amount of tea tree oil in the space, potent enough to kill moulds, bacteria, and viruses while safe to use when pets are around. However, we highly recommend to keep Gelair All-purpose spray, Gelair Aircon Cleaner, and Gelair tub out of reach of pets. 

17. Why use Gelair instead of bleach or vinegar? 

   a. Gelair Solution vs. Chlorine Bleach:

Gelair will not produce white-bleached spots where there is over spray. It can be used on any surface, except on some plastics.

Tea tree oil has a very high boiling point and will stay in‐sit for a long time (days). Chlorine vaporizes quickly.

Chlorine will cause corrosion to metals. The chloride will cause corrosion of metals and even stainless steel.

Chlorine has an odor that people do not like, whereas tea tree oil has a pleasant scent.

Many people are allergic to chlorine.

Chlorine often causes people to have an asthmatic attack.

Chlorine is highly alkaline and is a serious safety hazard – if you accidentally
spray it into the eyes, it can cause severe/permanent eye damage.

Chlorine will attack many materials.

Ever wonder why you bleached the moulds out and it's back again after a few days? Chlorine bleach decolourizes and kills mould on the surface but does not penetrate porous surfaces to kill the roots of the mould.

Gelair Tea Tree Oil Spray is specially formulated to penetrate porous surfaces and kills the mould at its roots. Spraying Gelair Tea Tree Oil Spray on tile grouts prevent mould from growing back for up to 12 weeks.

b. Gelair Solution vs. Vinegar:

Vinegar only works because of its acidity.

It would help if you got liquid vinegar directly onto the Mould. It will not treat Mould, which is hidden.

Vinegar does not kill all types of moulds, bacteria, and viruses.

Vinegar is the cheapest safe acid to use.

Vinegar has a strong unpleasant smell, and some people hate the smell of vinegar.

Vinegar is much more volatile than Tea Tree Oil (TTO), so it will disappear nearly at the same rate as water, whereas Tea Tree Oil (TTO) will exist on a surface for a long time.

Vinegar does not penetrate materials as well as tea tree oil.

 

18. Why use Gelair instead of pure tea tree oil? 

     a. Pure tea tree oil is very potent and can damage surfaces and irritate skin. 

     b. Gelair is especially formulated to optimize the germ-kill action while still being safe to use as it is. 

19. How often do I have to use/replace Gelair products? Do you havesubscriptions so I don’t have to remember when to buy again?

21. When I buy from your online shop, www.houseofpureessence.com, when will I receive my order?

     a. For orders within Hong Kong we ship within 1 working day via SF express. Please expect to receive your order within 2-3 working days. Tracking number is provided, please note that there are no remote nor residential surcharges. 

     b. For international orders we ship within 1 working day, please check the transit time on checkout. Duties and taxes may apply on destination.
